Ingredients
- This mashed potato recipe, or the one on Laura Vitale’s site (recipe linked under title) or your favorite recipe.
1 large onion, thinly sliced
4 large sausages (optionally cut into 2-3 pieces)
3 minced garlic cloves
3 tbsp flour
2 tbsp butter or ghee
1/4 cup red wine
1 3/4 cup chicken stock
1 tbsp worsestershire sauce
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Directions
- Make this mashed potato recipe or your favorite recipe. Set aside.
- In a pan, add 1 tbsp oil (if sausages are lean) and brown the sausages all over for several minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add 2 tbsp butter or ghee. Add the sliced onion and the salt and pepper and saute until golden brown.
- Add the flour and stir until well coated. Then pour in the wine and add garlic and simmer for a couple of minutes.
- Add the chicken stock and bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer until thickened.
- Add the worsestershire sauce and the browned sausages along with their juices. Simmer until sausages are fully cooked through, a couple more minutes.
- Serve with the mashed potatoes and green peas if desired. Enjoy!
