Saucy Chinese Chicken Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • For the sauce:
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp shaoxing wine

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoison sauce

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 1/4 cups water

  • For the Stir Fry:
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, or a neutral oil

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 4 minced garlic cloves

  • 2 tsp freshly grated ginger

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite sized pieces or sliced

  • Approx. 4 cups of broccoli florets

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced

Directions

  • Steam broccoli for a few minutes until tender crisp, or microwave it. Set aside.
  • Whisk sauce ingredients together well. Set aside and whisk again before putting in pan later.
  • Heat oil in a large pan or wok. Add the onions and sauted for a minute, then add garlic and ginger. Mix well.
  • Add the chicken pieces and bell pepper and cook until almost done. Add the sauce and water. Stire well and let bubble for a couple of minutes until thickened and glossy.
  • Stir in the steamed broccoli. Serve with white rice. Enjoy!
